Introduction

Welcome to the website of the Flemish Folkdance group Reuzegom. Our home town is the famous medieval university city of Leuven (Louvain), Flanders (Belgium). We belong to the Dutch speaking community of Belgium. Both our Flemish culture and our official language (Dutch) are part of the germanic family of Europe, together with the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, England and the Scandinavian countries.

The Leuven Folk Art Group Reuzegom owes its name to "het Reuzenliedje" (the Giant song) which echoe through the city when the carillon in the university library tower is played.

Reuzegom tries to continue the Flemish folk art traditions (folkdance, folk music, flag-waving & crossbow shooting) in a contemporary way in order to preserve them for future generations.

On this web site you will find a lot of pictures and information about our activities and traditions.
During our 58 years of existence we participated in small and big festivals all over Europe and even further, so if you would be interested in inviting us to your festival, do not hesitate to contact us.
